Those Beasleys' "reunion" EP.
Those Beasleys take you backwards in time, opening this collection with Sky Beasley's bizarre electronic pastiche; "Backwards In Time", which makes (along with it's reprise which finishes off this collection), an appropriate set of bookends to this handful of weird "reunion"(?) tracks.
This is the second appearance of "Meltdown" (debuting on "Eye), the full-fledged Beasleys' version.
Those Beasleys' "reunion" tracks (aka the "Sleepwalkers + Sky" versions) are:
"Lie, Cheat & Steal",
"Meat Hat",
"Man's Best Trend" and
"Poindexter".
None of those Beasleys were in the studio at the same time as each other, AND - each recording session was years apart from each other.
1. Late 80's: Tex and his band ("Hermanos Guzanos") record instrumental tracks. Tex gives an "album's worth" of these recordings to Spike.
2. Early 90's: Spike writes words and melodies for these tracks, adds vocals to them. Dubs the new recording band; "The Sleepwalkers" and a cassette album called "Take Me To The Meltdown, Daddy" is completed.
3. Mid 00's: Sky processes the tracks with his secret "Meadow's Muffinizer"™ fecal-audio processor, adds his own special audio flavors (keys / guitar / vox).
There are also two tracks that were originally Spike solo projects that were also run through the elaborate and mysterious "Meadows' Muffinization" process; the short "I Go To Work" and the happy "Perfect Day", written by his old friend and former band-mate Val Maylone (along with her former band-mate; Wendy Weber).
(Hear/download the original "I Go To Work" (re-titled; "I Get Up") as part of "The Toe-Hair Tapes", and the original Spike version of "Perfect Day", included on Rev. Spike Beasley's solo collection; "Corn on the Cob", here:
